Last night I went home and tried out all the suggestions I could do there. First I tried animeangel’s suggestion of foundation and lip balm. The color was good, but the texture didn’t work for me. I have really dry skin, so my lips are very dry and flaky. The foundation swam around in there and got gummy. Le sigh. I have mutant lips. So I tried the concealer, because I don’t use an oil-free concealer so I thought that might work better, but i had the same problem. It didn’t work for me, but I must stress that the color was really good, so if you don’t have peely lips it is definitely worth a try.

So at lunch I went to MAC to try out klytaemnestra’s suggestion of MAC’s “Myth” color. Google pictures of it looked promising. I went to MAC and a guy named Jacob helped me out. I tried it with and without lipgloss and liner. It looks great. I’m interested to try it with a lip brush (I like those). The coverage is good and the texture is nice and creamy so I don’t get flake problems. So I bought the lipstick in Myth and a tube of Plushglass in Wildly Lush, which looks amazing on top of it. It’s a good look that may work for noncosplay stuff with a slightly heavier eye. (I’m thinking Twiggy.)

Of course, I just now realized I forgot to check out the MAC Shadesticks, which I had been interested in. Panacea81 uses them in a lot of her Youtube videos, so I thought I’d check them out. But I forgot, oh no. But the lipstick is great.

Does anyone have any advice about achieving a good nude lip? I have trouble with it. Looking around at some websites, I think the problem is that my lips are pretty red. They don’t seem red to me, but they look as red or redder than other people online who say they have red lips. And lipsticks do tend to change color on me.

So I’m really pale and have pink lips, and some lipstick brands tend to go chalky on me. Anyone have any success with this?

My Sheryl and Ciel wigs are both Cyperous, and both needed a mild color tweak, since both characters have that delightfully impossible and ambivalent tinted two-color hair (pink-blonde and blue-gray, respectively).

I gave Sheryl a once-over with pink, and that went perfectly. (For a lowlight tint like that, I like to hand-color the undersides of the fibers, so it stays a secondary color while still running throughout the whole wig.) Ciel also got hand-colored with a Sharpie, and the effect was good. But the damn thing smears blue over everything now. It’s infuriating. I rinsed and soaked it for days and days, and it wouldn’t stop. Today I got mad and gave it a shampoo, and now all the blue is gone entirely!

A super fabulous mystery package has arrived at my house. Nick signed for it. I’m totally contemplating going home at lunch to see it. (Not actually feasible since it takes about 50 minutes to get to or from my house.)
