This week two separate sellers have sent me patterns that are not the patterns I ordered.
I’m a little bewildered. But the first person just sent me the pattern I did order and said to keep the random one she’d sent. I don’t know what I’d do with it, but I guess it’s not bad to have around.
But this time I got the wrong vintage one. I emailed her. I hope she still has the one I ordered, because that’s the one I really want. The one I ordered was a Dior bar suit knockoff. The one I got was similar, but not quite what I’m looking for.
Edit: Wow, super nice seller! She also told me to just keep the mistakenly sent pattern and she’d send the other one over right away. Everyone is so nice! It’s a really nice pattern. I kind of feel like I should pay her for it.
OK, stupid D*Con.
I’m bringing Jem.
Lion Tamer is nowhere near close enough to finished. Bleh. I keep changing the design. I was going to go with a Lady Gaga-style sparkly bra, but then I saw Britney’s spectacular armored corset at her concert last Wednesday (Thank you, India!) and wanted to do something like that. But that doesn’t go with the coat or boots. BLEH! I might be back on the sparkly bra wagon, but then I have to book to finish up the coat i’ve been working on. I want to do a big crimped mane, but i’m not sure my base wig will show up in time. If it doesn’t, I found an auburn version of India’s giant fro, so I’d just get that.
I’m also theoretically doing a Bioshock splicer. I think that will happen *if* Nick makes the masks. I have the pieces for them, I just don’t want to bother putting htem together. I have a shitty old theoretically 1940s dress (coughbullshitcough) that I’ve been meaning to get rid of. I will probably hack it up and that will be my costume.
Then I saw Sophie-Anne from tomorrow’s True Blood, and that’s basically closet cosplay, given my ridiculous closet of glam 1940s stuff. But then I got an awesome vintage pattern on ebay for a 1940s bikini. I kind of want to make it up out of white satin. So I might give that a shot and see how quickly I can make that happen. (WTF, Liz?) Seriously, I could just wear something out of my closet.
Other stuff on the table are Kantarou, Cao Pi, Oscar and Motoko. Those can wait for later.
OK, the overwhelming majority request Sunday for the circus group, so let’s do that then! How about 4 or 5pm at the Marriott?

Yay! I got a new serger for my birthday, and I just got word that it shipped today. I got the Singer QuantumLock 14T967DC, which is the same model India has. I liked the rolled hems her machine does, and I wanted a machine with a cover stitch.

I’ll get a new needle into my 3-thread Juki overlock and sell it once the new one arrives. I have to have a sale soon anyway. My house is way too crowded, and I should really get rid of some stuff I don’t wear anymore.
I don’t even use patterns about 75% of the time, but I must buy them. It’s like a compulsion. I must shop for and purchase vintage sewing patterns.
And I think I only cut one of my patterns this year! The rest are just in a box. And now I need a bigger box.
Today in Gmail chat:
me: I think I have a pattern problem!
Nick: You have bought about one million patterns.
me: I have a problem!
me: (one million and four)
Today’s purchases:
1930s gown
1940s bathing suit and jacket
1960s sheath dress & sheer trapeze overdress
1950s cocktail dress, Ciel Chapman knockoff
Oh hell! I just found another one I want …
So here is my full oeuvre for racked.com:

Bleh. I have no idea!
Kantarou and Cao Pi and Oscar, definitely. Doll, too. Another Ciel.
But nothing I need wigs for. Who else do I want to do? Lia, Griffiths … Gahhh. I can’t make up my mind. -_-
Cyperous is open again!
Help me pick a color:

Agh. I don’t know what I want! @_@
I am now wishing I had purchased a long straight wig in F2/F19 for myself when we went to Maple in Japan. They call it “Orange Gold/Red mix.” It’s kind of a dark red.
I got it for a doll, but now I wish I had gotten one for myself. Does anyone know where I can find a color like this?
Quality is a more pressing concern than price.
I was going to post a picture of my doll wig, but my pictures all really make it look more orange. I’m perplexed. Because in my hand I thought it was more likely to be a mix of red and burgundy than red and orange. It’s a much darker, bluer color than it looks in this photo:
